2021 New Year’s Day Ride

These are videos taken in the wilderness area from Milpitas to Livermore and back to San Jose using my GoPro HERO7 BLACK.  The video is 1080P HD @60 FPS using H.265 compression.

All of the audio is wind noise and a little bit of motorcycle.  You’ll probably want to mute the audio.

Click on the GHOXXXXXX link for the videos.  The rest of the links are references.

*You’ll have to DL and play locally because of the video quality.  Our ISP is not up to the challenge.  😉
Please forgive my newbie framing and lens cleaning mistakes while riding.

The videos are listed in chronological order.  You can fast forward through the boring parts.  😉
I link to reference points where I think it helps to understand where I was or why something might be interesting in that place.

GX010273
This is Calaveras Road after the intersection of Calaveras and Felter.
You can see the fire damage along the way.
I got caught behind some cars and took it easy for a few minutes.

GX010274
This is Calaveras Road just over the Alameda County line, which explains the change in the pavement.
This video stops at the intersection of Calaveras and Geary.

GX010275
I looped around via 680, 84, and ultimately riding south on Mines Road in Livermore, then into the wilderness area south of Livermore.
This video is the start of the climb on San Antonio heading for the Lick Observatory.
You see a lot of fire damage along this section.

GX020275
This video continues from GX010275 almost to the summit and Lick Observatory.
If you look at the top of the hill when I get caught behind a car you can see a bit of the observatory buildings.

GX010276
This video starts on the descent from the observatory on 130 down to San Jose.
I take this one at a relaxed pace because there’s lot of people, cars, and the setting sun is in my eyes.
