Alek had his first birthday party.  He seemed to take to the festivities as the complete party animal he seems to be.

       
Alek needed to be very fashionably dressed and properly accessorized for his first birthday.

   
Alek loves to read books, especially with a doting Grandma.

   
Of course the only thing better than having one Grandma read you a book is having TWO Grandmas read you a book!

           
Here is the poor cake getting ready to be victimized.
And of course there is that silly hat..
A tentative approach to the cake, and then more exploration - this is the first exposure to chocolate after all.

               
After more digging in, and even a taste or two.  The cake looked a lot worse for the wear.  Fortunately there was an adult cake or two as well.

       
Then we opened presents.  Alek got his own Harley-Davidson, and a riding suit (not shown here),
Alek got lots of presents which included lots of books.

   
Caroline took notes so we can be sure to thank everyone for all their generosity. 
Alek was fortunate to have two sets of grandparents for this event.
       
Alek received a combo sports center from his grandparents, among other things.  Fortunately he has some competent engineers in his circle of friends to put it together for him.

   
The next morning Alek sunk some baskets before breakfast - NBA here we come!


Alek also took to the pounding bench.  That is until he pounded himself in the lip with it.  Then it wasn't so special anymore..  J
