Once again we joined the Crash & Burn Ski Club for a week of skiing in
Crested Butte Colorado. There were about
50 of us skiing all over the place.

We flew to Gunnison in fine style now that Alek doesn't need a car seat in the
plane anymore.
When we arrived at Gunnison Jackie found that the airline provided some custom
luggage decorations for her.

Alek had a crush on Joely. This is just before he beaned her with an ice
ball and made her cry. Alek's other interactions with Joely were much less
painful.

Ross & Chantal roomed with us. Here we are at the initial get together at
the accommodations.
Alek was a little tired so he sacked out on a chair.
Steve took the throne to hand out our commemorative hoodies. He is the
Grand Poobah after all.

This is some video of me teaching Alek how to ski, a little bit. The ski
school instructors really did all the teaching.

Skiing with Ross and Chantal is always a pleasure. Even though the snow
cover was thin, we tended to do a lot of high speed runs down the long, wide,
steep, and well groomed runs.

We had a great dinner all together Monday night. Alek got sit with Joely
at the kids table. He was in heaven!
There were quite a few birthdays and an anniversary to celebrate, so we did with
ice cream and candles.
We had dinner with Peter and Nancy. We told each other lots of stories
from the year gone by.

Alek played in the snow with Grant. They threw snowballs quite a bit.
Then they made the best snow-thing they could since the snow wouldn't stick
together very well.

Joely was going to celebrate her birthday with all of us. However, she
skied hard and became another party casualty.

Marvin was cruising along and tried to turn on some ice. The thing that
really turned was his knee. The meat wagon was called.
Marvin got loaded into the meat wagon very carefully.
Then he got packaged up tight so the snow mobile spray wouldn't get all over
him.
The diagnosis was a torn ACL and MCL. Marvin's skiing was done, but he
could still party pretty well.

I tried to get off the lift and the pole strap got caught on the chair.
Then the chair dragged the pole until it bent. Now I have new poles!

Alek skied with us like a champ. He went fast enough to give his mother a
bit of heartburn. But you should have seen the grin on his face!

The theme party this year was Hip-Hop. Rick found his inner Homey and
showed us all a few new moves.
Jim, Lianna, and Gary showed some 'tude.
Kathy and Carolee did something original. Kathy is Hippie-Hop and Carolee
got clipped on her lowered drawers.
I don't really know what the last pic is, but it was interesting to watch
happen.

Caroline and Konrad got a little closer. Konrad did his "normal" drag
thing. We felt sorry for him running around in tights while it was about
zero degrees out.

Konrad and Jim did some time on the dance floor.
Tina and Julie busted a move or two.
Jin showed Konrad what it looks like to shake that 'thang.

Marvin got the Golden Helmet Award for trashing his knee this year.
Fortunately Kristen and Stephanie helped Marvin get over his ailment.

Somehow Jason got treatment similar to Marvin's. But he wasn't hurt at
all, aside from trying to snowboard..

Alek and I were fooling around one morning before heading out to ski.
Caroline likes my long underwear for some reason..

Alek and I head out to ski. It was about zero degrees out. But Alek
skied for the better part of an hour.

We had a Leftover's night dinner on Friday. We all brought whatever
leftovers we had laying around, along with a bunch of pizzas and got to trade
stories from our skiing exploits.
of course Alek managed to find the rest of the kids and some pizza too.

On the way home our second segment flight got cancelled. Part of the
consolation prize was that Alek got to check out the cockpit of a Bowing 757.
