We took at 10 hour train ride from Cusco to Juliaca (near Lake Titicaca) that was the
roughest train ride either of us had ever been on! All the luggage flew off the
overhead rack in the first few minutes of the trip, and eating/drinking/relieving was
quite the adventure! But, the views from the train and the sights at Lake Titicaca
were worth this version of Mr Toad's Wild Ride!

View from the train -- sheep, llamas, alpacas, and
cows grazing on the altiplano (about 12,500').
During a stop at one of the stations, Greg took advantage of an opportunity for a quick nap.

View of a floating island (build on totora reeds)
of the Uros Indians.
An Uros Indian woman and her morning catch of fish.

View of the totora reed boats that the
Uros still use today.
We just had to see what riding on one of those boats was like!

Reed gatherers taking their reed catch back home.
A young lady on Taquile Island spinning wool while walking.

All islanders must go up 600 steps to get to the main
living areas on the island (and yes, they must carry
everything on their backs going up those steps!).
A Taquile Islander "stow-away" on our boat (all the men on the island knit, while the women spin and weave).

Greg looking very much like a
tourist.
We made this poor guy pedal both Greg and I back into the middle of town on his "Cholo Taxi" (and we gave him a BIG tip!).

A funeral tower at the Sillustani ruins
which are less than a hour from Lake Titicaca.
What the funeral tower looks like on the inside.
