We spent the Labor Day holiday at Mammoth Lakes this year.  Lisa and I went up on Tuesday, Caroline followed on Friday.  We were all set to do some mountain biking, fishing, hiking, and anything else we might come up with.

This was Lisa's first trip to Mammoth, so we started by walking around the lakes. There were some opportunities to get wet and muddy, and we couldn't pass them up. There were some other places where the going got a little tight.  But our princess bore the strain with a smile. At least until the going got really rough, and then the water bottle didn't seem like such a good idea.

Janel and Jeff discovered pinball on the PC.  It became a staple late afternoon activity. Late afternoon activity for Rich consisted of more cerebral activities. Lisa did meld right into the rhythms of the cabins meals and activities.

We had a belated birthday for Sarah.   She's a prime number again!

Lisa and I biked from the top of Mammoth Mountain.  We took the Gondola up, of course!  It was a beautifully balmy day. Lisa figured out how to ride the trail pretty quickly.  That is as long as the trail was flat, straight, and not too steep. Then there were those curvy parts, with the deep sand that were a little more disconcerting.  Lisa figured it out as she went along and became pretty adept for a beginner rider.

A typical breakfast at the cabin.  Rich made a  HUGE stack of pancakes for this feast.  And of course Caroline (I'm sure you aware of some of her dietary oddities) put ketchup on her pancakes, as she normally does, with an artistic flair.  It must be the Squirt influence..

We hiked a bit at Convict Lake. Sarah, Lisa and I hiked to the far side of the lake.  It was a little too warm for the Mommy-To-Be. It was extraordinarily clear this year.  Last year the forest fires had the hills in a haze. Looking at the lovely view from the far side of the lake.

A typical evening activity for the kids, pinball on the PC.  Jeff was a very dedicated player.  I think he has all three high scores now. Roy delves deeply into media, whether it be printed or online.

We hiked around Horseshoe Lake and then stopped next to this perfectly placed pedestal. Caroline thought it was a great location to show off the latest development of her profile. Hiking around the lake takes a little extra support..

Our last supper wouldn't be complete without another ode to Sarah's Birthday.  I guess when you rack up that many birthdays it takes a little longer to properly celebrate.
