We returned to Mammoth for a week in August this year. Alek had a
really good time which is important to everyone else's level of enjoyment.
We also remembered to bring warm clothes for him this time, which made everyone
happy.

Alek wandered around gathering rocks. They were necessary because every
little bit of water needs a new rock tossed in it.

Alek discovered that when you slam a door it makes a big noise. On top of
that it's a whole new form of peek-a-boo.
Unfortunately Mikey was trying to sleep at the time..

Roy and Sarah are the most wonderful hosts in the mountains. This was our
Sarah birthday dinner. Once candle stands for - a few years..
In the end Alek got the honors for blowing it out. Which he did with
aplomb.

Alek is always ready to lend a hand. He likes to bring in the firewood
with Grandma.

Alek has his Grandma wrapped around his little finger. Here she plays
dice. Alek throws the dice on the floor, laughs, and picks them up, with
lots of encouragement.

Alek joins his Grandma for her morning ritual. He seems to prefer the more
natural shades given his high coloring.
Mikey and I went to check out Devil's Postpile National Monument. It's an
extraordinary geologic formation.
Mikey, aka Inspector Gadget, needed to make sure we were there, so he checked
his GPS.
Then we climbed to the top of the monument, feelin' pretty good about it too.

Next we walked to Rainbow Falls. At the falls Mikey did his Good Samaritan
bit and snapped a shot for a couple of biddies.
Then Mikey posed for Still Life With Fulcrum. I can't wait to
submit it to SFMOMA..

Alek works on the web site with me.

Alek went to the fish hatchery with his Grandparents. He fed the fish a
lot.

Every once in a while you have to scrub the little dirtball..

We stumbled across a canoe. Guess who wanted to play captain?
Then we looked for the "duckies" from the bridge. We found a few.

Shortly before we left a bear ran through the yard and was chased up the hill by
the dog. I couldn't get the camera together fast enough for a good
shot. But the brown thing on the log really is a bear.

This is my attempt at doing a Galen Rowell shot. I like it, but I think I
better keep my day job.
The full moon chased us across Yosemite. This is looking back towards Lee
Vining from Tioga Pass on Route 120.
