Caroline and I finally did it!  We dropped out and headed to Europe.

A lot of people gave us very consistent feedback - the word "envy" came up extremely frequently.  Thus we figured we were tapping into some common yearning.  And since the rest of you are needed to keep the economy going, well...  Someone has to go out and play - It may as well be us.  :-)

Since we left SFO on a midday flight, we got to change planes in DC in the evening.  And we were pretty shot by then.  All the immobility turns our minds to Jello.  And I didn't take any pictures...  But when we got to Paris, I felt compelled to immortalize the moment.

Here you see Caroline at the baggage claim at Charles DeGaulle, and then again at the TGV station at Charles DeGaulle.  She was a real trooper since this was the largest and longest jaunt on her broken foot.

After 22 hours of non-stop travel, we were picked up at the station by Mickey and Jim and rapidly taken to their wonderful abode.  Then they filled us up with all kinds of delectable treats that you just don't get in CA very often.

Caroline lasted a good while longer, but finally succumbed to fatigue in the early evening.  I have to hand it to her, with the trouble of gimping along, she still made it half way around the planet without so much as a whimper.
